Communities across Arkansas are growing quickly, but many still lack safe, connected ways for people to walk and bike through everyday life.

Local leaders and residents often care deeply about improving mobility, but without the right support, it can be difficult to turn that concern into coordinated action.

Arkansas Moves can help.

Who We Are

Arkansas Moves is a community coalition built around local leadership.

Coalitions help communities come together, identify priorities, and build momentum for safer, more connected places to live - because growth should strengthen connection, not make it harder.

Rather than operating as a traditional advocacy organization, we work alongside the people already shaping their communities — residents, city staff, civic organizations, and local businesses.

Our role is to help connect those efforts, support collaboration, and provide tools that move community ideas toward real progress.

The Coalition Model Allows Communities To:

  • Bring diverse voices together around shared goals

  • Identify priorities for safer and more connected mobility

  • Coordinate across agencies and organizations

  • Build momentum for projects that improve everyday life

Arkansas Moves began through coalition work in Northwest Arkansas and continues to expand as more communities look for collaborative ways to improve safety, connectivity, and quality of life.

What We Do

Arkansas Moves Help communities move from observation to action. Our work focuses on supporting local leaders and helping communities advance smarter mobility solutions.

  • We equip residents, advocates, and community groups with tools, connections, and guidance to help improve mobility in their communities.

  • We convene community working groups that bring together city staff, residents, nonprofits, and businesses to align around shared priorities and coordinate progress.

  • We support programs, partnerships, and infrastructure efforts that make walking and biking safer and more accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

Why It Matters

How people move through a community affects far more than transportation.

Safe and connected walking and biking networks contribute to:

• Safer streets for everyone
• Healthier and more active communities
• Stronger local economies
• Better access to schools, parks, and jobs
• More vibrant neighborhoods and downtowns

Communities across Arkansas are growing quickly. Thoughtful investments in mobility help ensure that growth strengthens connections between people and places.

That’s what we mean by a smarter way forward.
